Students in the West Liberty Agriculture Food Science and Pre-Veterinary class recently had the opportunity to tour the West Branch Veterinary Clinic, gaining firsthand insight into careers in animal health. During the visit, students explored the day-to-day operations of a working veterinary practice, observing exam rooms, surgical areas, and diagnostic equipment.

Veterinary staff shared their knowledge on animal care, common procedures, and the importance of preventive health in both small and large animals. Students learned about responsibilities ranging from routine check-ups and vaccinations to surgical interventions and emergency care. The tour also highlighted the education and skills required to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

This hands-on experience allowed students to connect classroom learning with real-world applications. By interacting with professionals and seeing procedures up close, students gained a deeper understanding of the veterinary field and potential career pathways in animal science.
