The West Liberty FFA Mentoring Program is helping members grow as leaders by fostering a culture of peer support and collaboration. Through the program, experienced high school members take younger or less experienced students under their wing to prepare for FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs). These contests focus on building critical skills such as public speaking, decision-making, and leadership.

Mentors work one-on-one or in small groups to guide members through event preparation, including speech writing, practicing demonstrations, and refining communication techniques. This structure not only strengthens individual performance but also builds confidence in newer members as they learn from those who have previously competed.

The program benefits both mentors and mentees. Older members develop coaching and leadership skills, while younger members gain valuable insight and encouragement. By investing in each other’s success, West Liberty FFA members are creating a strong, supportive chapter culture and preparing the next generation of leaders for success in competition and beyond.
